The Bond Academy is the culmination of three separate career paths converging on a common goal: to open a world class hairdressing school. In creating the academy, Oscar and Wendy Bond and Thomas McKiver have combined their collective technical, creative and professional experience, and their proven track record as dedicated educators in the beauty industry.

The Mission

The mission of the Bond Academy is to provide everything you need for success in hair dressing: from the basics to advanced techniques of cutting and coloring, to developing your business acumen and learning how to give clients an experience that sends them back out into the world looking their best and eager to share their fantastic salon experience with others.

The Founders

• Oscar Bond is globally recognized as a master hairdresser and one of the industry's most dynamic educators.
• Board-certified colorist, Wendy Bond is frequently referred to as the "top downtown colorist in New York City" by some of the most discriminating critics in the industry.
• Thomas McKiver is one of the most successful editorial hair dressers in the world. Oscar, Wendy and Thomas have all built their careers one step at a time, from the ground up, and share a deep commitment to teaching others how to do it.

Oscar and Wendy Bond have also achieved success in creating and running their own business. In 1998, starting with nothing more than the 3,300 square feet of raw space they purchased in the heart of Soho, and their combined abilities, experience and drive, they created the hugely successful Oscar Bond salon. Less than a year after the salon opened its doors, it was voted one of New York City's Top Ten Salons in Salon News. They have been featured in magazines such as In Style, Mademoiselle, Jane, Marie Clare, Self, GQ, Details, YM, Soho Style and Time Out, In addition, Oscar's work was highlighted on ABC's The View and MTV's Making The Band. The salon has also been featured on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Teen Vogue, Color & Style Magazine and Wall Street Journal.

Thomas McKiver brings to the academy his expertise and experience derived from a long career at the top of the editorial fashion industry. Some highlights of Thomas's client portfolio include TV and print campaigns for Victoria's Secret, Target, JC Penny, Lord & Taylor, Lane Bryant, Lubriderm, Macy's and Talbots. Thomas's work is regularly featured in magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, and Vanity Fair, and on the heads of personalities such as Penelope Cruz, Christina Ricci, Drea De Matteo, Marisa Tomei and Vanessa Hudgens.

Oscar, Wendy and Thomas have chosen L'ANZA Healing Haircare as their partner in this venture because L'ANZA's product line represents the highest level of integrity and quality of ingredients, and L'ANZA shares their commitment to education in the industry. As the creative directors for L'ANZA Healing Haircare, Wendy and Oscar also head up L'ANZA's global education team.
